Turquoise is mined all over the world with the American southwest claiming some of the highest quality, specifically the Sleeping Beauty mine in Arizona. Although I am not sure where this particular turquoise was mined, I purchased it in Arizona along with the beautiful clasp that was handmade by a local artist in Arizona.

Window Rock, Arizona is located in the northwest almost at the state line of Arizona and New Mexico and is the capitol of the Navajo Nation. It is named for a huge hole that has been slowly formed in the side of a 200 foot sandstone structure. This seemed a fitting name since the southwest is often characterized by turquoise and artwork of the Navajo people, who use turquoise extensively in their jewelry and dress.
