Stunning graduated coral beads are separated by a series of gold-plated rondelles that serve to frame each enchanting bead of coral as well as accentuate the shimmer and shine of these beautifully polished beads. What I love about coral so much is that it is elegant because of the smooth polish, but at the same time very rugged and earthy because of its natural texture and inconsistencies. This unique bamboo coral has been dyed a mint green color with spots and marbling of dark forest greens and creamy whites. Named for the color of the coral, mentha is the scientific name for the genus of herbs commonly called mint.

Coral is a calcium carbonate that is built up by the skeletons of small sea animals. It often grows in branches that look like underwater trees, and it is found in the Mediterranean Sea and in the Pacific Ocean off Japan or Taiwan. This type of coral grows in segmented branches (thus the name bamboo) with beige sections that partially cover the black underlayer. The beads retain the texture of their natural formations which gives them a primitive, natural appeal.

Both the white opalescent and the smooth gold beads are handmade in Greece from a unique blend of volcanic terra cotta clays. They are kiln-fired and then coated with a thick enamel glazes of white opal or pure gold. The iridescent finish on the white enamel beads creates the look of pearls and gives them a beautiful reflective property. Similarly, the 100% pure gold coating on the terra cotta washers almost makes them look like they are molten gold. All of these terra cotta beads add a glamorous shimmer and shine to this graceful bracelet.

Bali-style rondelles add to the elegance of the piece by providing an ornate and exotic aura. These beads are made of pewter and plated with an antique gold. Mentha closes with a Bali-style antique gold-plated toggle clasp and will be adjusted to fit the requested wrist size.
